We cater for both working and paying students.

WORKING STUDENT INFORMATION

Sheepcote is a stable of approximately 35 horses. We concentrate on producing horses to a high standard for competitions, sales etc. At any one time we have horses working from novice to Grand Prix and many of our school horses are my ex. competition horses and are trained to advanced level.

Riding facilities include the use of Sheepcote Indoor Arena, an outdoor arena, a set of BSJA jumps and a cross country course.

We cater for both paying and working students, on long or short term courses, with or without their own horses. Our students have won many prizes including International 3 Day Events. Past students of Sheepcote include Claire Oseman, the 1985 European Young Rider 3DE Champion, Vanessa Ashbourne, Reserve Champion in 1986 at the Young Rider European Championships and in the USA, Odded Shimoni, well known trainer and Grand Prix winner, started his career at Sheepcote. Linda Foster, a top instructor and FEI competitor from Australia gained Grand Prix experience on our horses.

Working students, who form part of the stable staff, are expected to look after approximately 5 horses to a high standard. The majority of stable work is done in the morning and the working students receive their daily lesson in the afternoon. Very often, if they are capable, students then ride another horse or help to school, lunge etc. one of the horses in training.

Coaching for examinations is given when required. Capable students are given the opportunity to compete in local shows and to take part in the training of the horses.

Students work in exchange for the instruction, riding and board. During the breeding season students receive instruction and gain valuable experience in stud management.

Training allowance may be agreed according to experience.

Students on short courses are welcome to bring their own mobile accommodation.
