Sheepcote Horses at the Winter Dressage Championship 2007 In the Winter National Dressage Championships which took place in Solihull Riding Club on the 11th to the 15th April 2007, riders and horses from Sheepcote had an extremely good show. Sheepcote Equestrian Centre had several horses that were bred and trained at Sheepcote that were placed or won numerous classes. Kara Johnston Smith represented Sheepcote Stud with Sheepcote Catkin and Sheepcote Nairobi and started the show with a good 9th place in the Petplan sponsored Novice Open class and then improved to 3rd place in the Medium and culminated in winning the Elementary Open Championship. Both Catkin and Nairobi were bred and produced at Sheepcote. Nairobi is by the Dutch stallion Neostan and out of Ruby (Rubenstien). Catkin is by Cassander out of Ruby. Both horses had to go through a process of qualifications, first winning at a local show and then progressing to the Area Festival to qualify for the Championship. Sheepcote Catkin, Elementary Open Champion Our Grand Prix stallion, Sheepcote Wurlitzer was also represented well. His 6 year old son Sheepcote Walnut was a credible second in the Blue Chip Novice Championship. His daughter Sheepcote World of Optimism achieved first and fifth place in the Advanced Medium classes. Both horses were bred and broken at Sheepcote but sold to their current riders.
